MICHAEL CD Release Party
December 13, 2010 --- New York City My husband and I joined other Michael Jackson fans from all over the world, in the company of VIP’s; by invitation from Sony and the Michael Jackson Estate for the ‘MICHAEL’ CD release party in Manhattan, New York. Upon arrival, our excitement was met by windy freezing cold temperatures and snow. We would experience a lot of firsts on this trip, ones we'll never forget. The taxi ride was wild! There were horse and carriages everywhere around Central Park and more traffic (and taxi’s) than we’d ever seen in one area. Vendors resided along the sidewalks, selling anything you could need or want. It was just like the movies. Once checked into the hotel, what a room with a view! Not wanting to waste a minute of this day and a half trip, we took to the streets. The city was adorned with Christmas decorations and very magical feeling. We stopped in TGI Fridays for dinner and were shocked at how different the menu was from the one back home; the prices were much higher too, but the waiter was fantastic, as was the food. Time to party! We met with the others in the lobby before heading to biggest night of our lives. Due to a dear friend of mine and MJTP VIP Dot, Bijan ‘RythmiK’ Williams, we headed to the release party an hour before everyone else. The sidewalk was lined with people waiting to get in and though I was thrilled we weren’t standing in that line, I felt bad they had to wait in the cold. Security took me right inside and the first thing I noticed was the lighted floor, like the one used in the ‘Billie Jean’ video; very cool to walk across. By my arriving an hour early, it afforded me the opportunity to video the flash mob rehearsal, which can only be described as amazing! The dancers were all friendly and shared a deep love for Michael that could be felt. The room was amazing! The sound system … you could feel every beat of Michael’s songs throughout your body. We headed upstairs to the VIP area and wow! Our coats were even taken. The TV’s were playing Michael Jackson videos, waiters/waitress’s were carrying around trays of food and the bar was open. I met and spoke with Eddie Cascio and he is as down to earth as I thought he’d be. Among the other VIP’s, Fan Clubs and Celebrities, were John Branca, Teddy Riley and many more. They all were extremely nice and shared the love for Michael that we all have. As we watched the dance floor fill up downstairs, the room was filled with L.O.V.E.; love for Michael and it could be felt! It was an emotional and exciting night that ended way too soon. No one wanted to leave and if we could’ve stayed, I believe everyone would have danced till morning. I’m happy that I can share this with all of you and hope I’ve described it so you feel as though you were there with me. I love you all more!
