Turkish Students Honor Michael Jackson & Seek to 'Heal the World'
The following is shared with us by Dilek, The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait's Turkish Ambassador. Dilek is an English teacher and teaches her students about Michael Jackson and his humanitarian efforts. We hope many other people who were positively affected by Michael will carry on Michael's legacy in similar ways, so his mission will live on - and be realized - for generations to come. Remember: It's up to us! We must not only share Michael with the world and spread his message; we must live it!
Our school is Evyap School in Istanbul, Turkey. As part of the end-of-the-year show, our fourth and fifth graders rehearsed and performed "Heal the World" and "We are the World" to honor the greatest artist, Michael Jackson. They learned about his work with charity and the message in his songs about humanity as new members of MJ fans worldwide. Working on the songs was also an opportunity for the students to learn new words in English.
Below are two videos of the children singing, and notes and drawings the students did, talking about their experience.
Thank you, Dilek, for all you do for The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait, for Michael, and above all, for your students. You are an inspiration! Thank you to the fourth and fifth graders who took part in this, and to all the parents of these students! Together, we can heal the world and make it a better place.
