MJTP/Boys & Girls Club Event at Disneyland
Legacy FilesMarch 1, 2011Outside Captain EO, left to right:Big Al, Blake Plash, MJTP Artist David Ilan, MJTP Director of Philanthropy Valerie, and many of the Boys & Girls Club group. Thanks to an anonymous donor and to co-sponsor Rose'e Entertainment, on behalf of Michael Jackson and in our mission to carry on his humanitarian legacy, on February 26 2011, the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait co-sponsored and hosted an event at Disneyland for children and familes of Boys & Girls Club of East Los Angeles. The anonymous donor wanted to do something special, something meaningful, to brighten the lives of children even if only for a day, in Michael's name, on his behalf, and in his memory and honor. Hoping we could help with this mission, the donor, who is also an MJTP member, contacted the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait last year, with the hopes that Michael would continue to receive the recognition he so deserves for all the work he did to better the...

A Whisper from Behind the Curtain
Legacy files       June 30, 2012 Thousands of hours. Tens of thousands of emails. Five titles (three that stuck). 34 months and 2 days. Tons of decisions made and advice given. Hundreds of articles designed and posted for the various general MJTP Admin profiles (both belonging to individual team members and those not "owned" by any of us), in addition to my own (some of which I have since bade farewell to). Communication with people in tens of languages, well enough that we understood each other, thanks to Google Translate, when a human translator wasn’t available. Lots of inside info. Involvement in most of the projects, events and initiatives this tribute has spearheaded. And yes, money, an amount I choose not to publicly disclose, donated to help pay for things like bills, or direct sponsorship, Facebook advertising, and charitable efforts. We don’t normally announce a departure, and unlike David, without whom there would be no portrait; or Linda,...
Children First Academy - Helping Homeless & At-Risk Children
Legacy FilesJuly 24, 2010 [Links and other information updated July 30, 2011; Last update: June 2012]Children First Academy (CFA), the USA’s largest school for homeless and at-risk children, is in need of help to supply their students with life’s basic necessities. CFA has two schools located in Arizona, USA. Many of these children go without basics such as food, water and clothing, and often don't even stay at the same place every night – no place to call home. The one thing the children can count on is going to school every day – these schools. The school relies on donations and volunteers to give these children something stable in their lives - an education, friends, and activities they may not otherwise ever be part of.You can help by sending items from their ongoing Critical Needs List. Please note: all shoe sizes listed are in U.S. sizes; if you're outside the US and wish to send shoes but can't order sizes, you can try to find...
Friends of Treasure
Legacy FilesApril 4, 2011 [Updated January 3, 2012; Last update: June 2012. Please scroll down for updates.]  Treasure is a loving young girl with a vascular malformation of the tongue.  Flare-ups can cause her to have trouble eating, closing her mouth, talking, and could potentially block her airway.  Treasure was diagnosed at the age of 5.  She’s had many very costly surgeries. Treasure is doing well today, thanks to the love and support of compassionate people, such as a local dance community who helped raise funds when they heard Treasure needed yet another surgery last year.Read Treasure’s timeline. What is a vascular malformation?*Vascular malformations are benign (non-cancerous) lesions that are present at birth, but which may not be visible for weeks or months after birth. Unlike hemangiomas, vascular malformations do not have a growth cycle and then regress - they continue to grow slowly throughout life. There are several types of vascular...
Having Trouble with Your Comments Section, or Some Other Function on Your Profile?
April 12, 2011 [Updated May 3, 2011]We've been hearing that some members have been having trouble viewing or posting comments recently, possibly around the same time we updated our home page.  Please note that we made no changes that would affect anyone's profile, and we made no programming changes, other than to change the appearance of the main home page and the user home page (“What's New”).  No features were added or removed. In working with some members, we tested their profiles using several computers, several browsers/browser versions, and two operating systems.  We were able to view the comments and other profile areas reported without any trouble.  In further helping to troubleshoot, we found that the members may have updated their computers (manually or through automatic updates) which could have affected how they see things on the site.If you're having this same sort of trouble, there are a few things you can do to fix it:...
Honoring Treasure in the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait
Legacy FilesApril 27, 2011What a great time I had giving Treasure her dot today. It was a different kind of ceremony. As always, I try to think about what Michael Jackson would want the Tribute to do. Sometimes I place dots up on a stage in front of hundreds of people. Sometimes I place dots for celebrities in front of the media. Today I met Treasure and her mom at a park. It was the perfect setting and I thought if Treasure is bringing her mom then I should bring my mom, too. So my mom and I got to spend some quality time with Treasure and her mom. The only cameras around were the ones our moms were holding. After I drew Treasure's dot I gave her my pen and she gave me a Friends of Treasure T-shirt. When it was time to go, Treasure's mom, Chelsa, had to call Treasure back to say goodbye. She and her friend went to an open area and played catch with a tennis ball. After all, she is a kid and we were at the park. It was at that moment when I realized we had accomplished our...
Make An Ill Child's Day Brighter
Legacy FilesJuly 10, 2011 [Updated April 8, 2012; Last update: June 2012] This morning, as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and shut off the alarm, hoping for some coffee, I thought I'd check my emails. One email I read took my breath away, left me humbled, and had me smiling all day.  Dot Member jma had written to me about a group she formed on The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait website. jma and some friends have been collecting money and toys to bring to ill children in a hospital in Belgium. A friend of mine suggested jma contact us, and I'm so glad! When I read about the group, I could feel my heart swell with love, and I realized, once again, that Michael's humanitarian legacy really is continuing on: As we all know Michael used to visit many hospitals around the world to make children happy with by giving them some attention. We have founded this group because we want to do the same MJ did for ill children: give them a nice day with a...
MJTP 2010 Tour - Part 1: Rome, Austria & Amsterdam
Legacy FilesAutumn 2010RomeWhat an amazing time I had in Rome. The people were so welcoming and gracious. The event we had at Antica Biblioteca Valle was large enough to get to meet with fans but it still had a "home" feeling to it. I think that was because of how kind everyone was. We started off with showing people the portrait and then a few people spoke to the crowd.  With the help of an interpreter, I was able to speak about the meaning behind the portrait and why it is important for us to continually build our Tribute and participate in our Tribute community. I was then able to place dots for people as they watched up close. After some delicious food we were treated to fantastic dance performances by both professional and non-professional MJ fans. The performers gave everything they had and the audience enjoyed every bit of it. It truly was a night I will never forget. I feel like I...
MJTP 2010 Tour - Part 2: Germany
Legacy FilesAutumn 2010  Meeting JoshuaAs you may have realized by the photos, for the travel to Europe, the portrait had to be disassembled.By this time we were one week into the trip. We had mastered air-travel with all our baggage and the portrait; however, the journey to Joshua involved the first international train travel – heaving and throwing several boxes, the easel and portrait components on and off of the multiple trains, and running with all the baggage from one train station platform to another, since the journey involved multiple trains. (We are considering submitting audition footage for The Amazing Race.) Caught sleeping at the train station.....and on the train.Meeting Joshua was an amazing experience.  We were welcomed into the warm-coziness of the Badder home, so relaxing after a week on the road. We were treated hospitably by Joshua, him mom, his dad and his grandmother. We were spoiled...
MJTP 2010 Tour - Part 3: Belgium
Legacy FilesAutumn 2010Munich to Brussels viaUtrecht, Gouda, Alexander Polder and RotterdamWhen we arrived in Utrecht from the long overnight train ride, we learned that there’d been a big fire in the train station and there were no departing trains. What was going to be an 11-hour train ride ended up being an 18-hour day involving several trains, one taxi and one bus, as we were repeatedly sent to train stations that turned out to be closed due to the majority Dutch train system being off line and/or off schedule.  But it was all worth it because I got to witness Michelle being giddy with an overly handsome waiter while we were stuck in Gouda. I’m not sure she focused on half of the directions he was giving us, which may have caused further delay. In her defense, he was really good-looking.The Gouda restaurant story is reminding me that I need to apologize to the fine people who were dining in the restaurant of our Rome hotel when Michelle and I created a small scene....
MJTP 2010 Tour - Part 4: Amsterdam & Israel
Legacy FilesAutumn 2010 Amsterdam – Part 2Only a handful of hours before we needed to catch the flight to Israel, so we took a quick stroll over to the Anne Frank house and got a bite to eat (pancakes with ice cream on top). Then we caught a taxi to go meet with Dutch fans at a café near the train station. After searching high and low and making ourselves rather late, we found the café in the most obvious possible place, and had a very special, quiet meeting with the fans. We formed a circle with our chairs, and I had a chance to get to know some of the people behind the dots. I drew dots, signed autographs and we took lots of photos. Cool.                                                  Yum!                                            ...

Legacy FilesAugust 17, 2010 [Updated June 2012]We all know that Michael cared about our planet.  From "Planet Earth" (Dancing the Dream) to "Earth Song," to his pleas in This Is It, his gentle message is unmistakable: Earth is our home and it's up to US to save it. We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with  A Million Trees for Michael, a group of MJ supporters who share our love and concern for the planet, encouraging us all to plant trees in Michael's name. How are you supposed to do that?  Simple!  A Million Trees for Michael has partnered with American Forests, a non-profit organization that will plant one tree for every $1.00 you donate. Rumors, Scammers, Spammers, Trollers and Phishers, Oh My!
August 22, 2010In an effort to help keep this site safe and enjoyable for everyone, we are addressing three uncommon but important issues which are mentioned in our Terms of Service and/or FAQs.1. A Note about Website Safety - Don't Be Scammed:  You should easily be able to trust 99.99% of the members on this site.  However, until they've truly earned your trust, and you've built a friendship with them, you should use caution. Some people come to the site - or any website - to try to get  personal information from or otherwise scam members, and are not really here for the right reasons.  This is very rare, though it does happen! When we find out about such confirmed activity occurring on this website, we will terminate their account, as scamming, spamming, trolling, and phishing are violations of our Terms of Service (scam attempts often contain a combination of these offenses). If someone on this site whom you don't really know...
'Hold My Hand'
When I listened to “Hold My Hand” this morning, I was once again awed by the purity and magic of Michael’s voice. It’s a voice I am intimately familiar with; it’s a voice I love dearly, and in that moment when the harmonies came together in perfect unison, I loved him more than I had at any other point in my life. The song is a beautiful testament to his genius and a lasting reminder of his incredible legacy. Knowing that this was perhaps his last known song before he died, I was struck by the profoundness of the lyrics and wondered if Michael had any idea what they would come to mean to the fans, especially now. The release of ‘Hold My Hand” at a time when the fan community is so divided, so full of anger and dissention, is uncanny. Speaking for myself only, I strongly feel that the message in this song calls for unity and love. This life don’t last forever (hold my hand) So tell me what we’re waitin’ for (hold my hand) Better off...
"Christmas Again" with Jonathan Moffett
On behalf of Jonathan Moffett and Paula Katsikas, who has been working closely with Jonathan over the last few weeks, The Jam Café and Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait are happy to announce and promote “Christmas Again”, an album which Jonathan has dedicated to his friend Michael Jackson. Available on his website Jonathan follows in the footsteps of Michael by donating part of the proceeds to Make A Wish Foundation. Truly, this album is “All For Love” and a celebration of Michael’s life and message, as well as bringing home the real meaning of Christmas. From Paula Katsikas:Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett accomplished musician, songwriter and producer, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. The third son of a musical family of siblings, Jonathan began playing on a marching snare drum at the tender age of six and after arriving in Los Angeles in January 1979, he had his first contact with Michael and the Jackson brothers. Just six weeks later in the spring of 1979,...
*Keep Michaeling!
Did you know? According to the Urban Dictionary "Michaeling" is defined as:  1."When a Michael Jackson fan surfs the web for Michael Jackson, usually videos. It can be a hobby and the word is usually used on youtube."  I was Michaeling the other day, and found this awesome video; how to become a dot in the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait.  2."To keep on being a fan of and supporting Michael Jackson." We will be Michaeling for many years to come.  3."To do anything (positive) relating to Michael Jackson!" "Listening to MJ, looking at photos or videos of MJ, speaking to MJ fans, dancing to MJ, reading about MJ, dancing in the style of MJ, thinking about MJ, researching about MJ, talking about MJ, writing about MJ, spreading the truth and love about MJ, anything!" MJTP dot members love Michaeling.   4."The act of "Day dreaming" or sleeping with your eyes open." Sorry I'm late. I...
01. Spreading Michael's Messages in 2012
I have used this platform given to me by the MJTP for the last two and a half years as an opportunity to express appreciation for things I love about Michael Jackson, such as the compassion he had for humanity, the sensitivity he had for the planet, his generosity of spirit, and amazing talent. I wanted to demonstrate why he is one of the most loved people in the world. When I write about him it comes from the heart, but prior to 2009, I wouldn’t have been able to write this way. When Paris spoke those heartbreaking words at Michael's memorial service, the walls that had been up built up around my heart came tumbling down. That’s when all of this pent up love came flowing out of me and it hasn’t stopped since. The experience has been life changing.  Michael has created a place in each one of our hearts where he resides forever. It has been said that out of every tragedy comes something good. I know one thing good that has come of it is that we have become a very...
01. The Spiritual Experience of Writing Michael's Magic Box
I still have days where a single thought about Michael Jackson can bring me to tears instantly. It has happened to me twice this month. They weren’t tears of sadness though. I can only explain it by using his words: “In those moments I felt touched by something sacred.” It begins with a thought about him and turns into a feeling of pure, deep, profound love. In writing Michael’s Magic Box, I have begun to experience creativity in the way Michael used to always speak about. (For those who aren’t familiar with Michael’s Magic Box, read a brief summary about it here.) I have tried to write chapters ahead, but I’ve found it doesn’t work that way. Now I understand what he meant when he said, something in the heavens has to say now it’s time for you to have this. I feel guided every month when it’s time to write and in what I am supposed to write about.  Writing this story has caused me to recognize that creativity is a spiritual experience.  It is truly...
02. Honoring Michael's Gift To The World On His Birthday.
It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating yet another of Michael’s birthdays without his presence. The last year has passed by so quickly, but the feelings of loss and grief still linger within us. This will never fade because missing Michael is now a way of life, and calls to mind all the reasons why we love him and what he means to each one of us personally. That is what is at the heart of this birthday video; recollections of a man who found his way into our hearts and changed us forever. Many times I found myself smiling at the images moving across my computer screen as I tried to piece them together for the video, and I would drift on waves of memory. Michael was my first crush. I was 12 and didn’t particularly hold boys in any worth or importance, so when Michael burst into my world and I found myself entranced by his sweet smile and face, it really was a major event. In my country there was only one television station at the time, so it was rare to see Michael...
02. Michael Jackson - A Vessel of Love and Healing
As Thanksgiving Day came to a close I sat down to relax for the evening in my favorite recliner with a soft blanket covering me. Since nothing was on TV I decided to pull out my phone and watch some videos of Michael on YouTube. I started by watching tributes fans have put together – each one heartfelt in their own way – like this one called "Why You'd Leave the Stage." This video still brings me to tears, every single time!  Before I knew it I had spent two hours immersed in watching Michael, feeling an extraordinary amount of love the entire time. I listened to Dr. Wayne Dyer talk about the week he and his family spent with Michael at Neverland Ranch. I’ve seen Dr. Dyer in person. He has that same loving aura and energy about him that Michael has. When you are in his presence you can feel his light. I was thrilled when this video was posted because he spoke about his solid belief in Michael’s innocence. In fact, he referred to him as “a transcendent being...
03. A Community Outraged
I have heard from several MJ fans in the past two weeks who have told me how the trial has taken them to a dark place, making them feel angry and depressed. I thought a guilty verdict would make me feel relieved but it actually left me feeling kind of empty. Although justice was served, it doesn’t bring Michael Jackson back. I know the trial has taken its toll emotionally on everyone – fans, friends and family – so I was hoping that once the verdict came in we would be able to put it all behind us and move forward, but there is one thing preventing us from doing that: the documentary Conrad Murray filmed.   Like many other fans, I was outraged that television stations would even consider buying this documentary and I joined in the quest to let our disgust be known, staging a boycott and making a plea to advertisers not to sponsor it.  La Toya Jackson even got involved, tweeting about her efforts to stop it and, although hesitant to do so, Jermaine talked...
03. Continue His Legacy: Become His Voice
Graphic content appears in this video and may be disturbing to some viewers. Caution is advised. As a proud Michael Jackson fan and Team Member of this wonderful Tribute Portrait, I am enthusiastic about wearing my MJ pins and related jewelry to work, and I carry my business cards to hand out to anyone who I think would be interested in joining us on this site. Fortunately my Manager tolerates my, as she calls it, “Obsessive Michael Jackson Syndrome, “but some of my co-workers and customers are not so open-minded. While I can overlook any personal remarks directed towards my involvement with the MJTP, it’s a little more difficult to ignore the slurs and innuendo’s directed toward Michael.  As protective as I am of his name, it’s imperative for me to defend and protect it against these negative comments. I respond with love by directing people to read The Michael Jackson Conspiracy, by Aphrodite Jones and Michael’s Moonwalk, Dancing The Dream, and Oxford Speech,...
04. A Message from Michael Jackson
Friday, September 30th, marked the end of the first week of the Conrad Murray trial for the death of Michael Jackson. It was an emotionally devastating week. I felt sad, angry, disgusted, and horrified as I heard and saw things that broke my heart. I can't even imagine how Mrs. Jackson and the rest of the family must have felt sitting in that courtroom every day. While I listened to the testimony of the witnesses, I found myself asking God the same question I have many times before: Why did he have to go?  Even though I want to put some of the events of last week out of my mind, there is one I want to remember. Kenny Ortega testified that the last song Michael ever sang was “Earth Song.” That is my favorite song. There is something about that song that touches my heart deeply; it's a combination of the message, the music and Michael's voice. To know it was the last song he ever sang, brought a tear to my eye. As Friday evening approached, I just...
04. Forest Lawn
Forest Lawn: A Special Journey When I See You What will I say? What will I feel when I look through the glass to where you layWill I sink in the truth that faces meRefuse to acknowledge what my eyes will see? My greatest wishI never imagined it would come about like thisThrough the years, over miles, I have been travelling to youI was almost there, but now I find you have gone too soon So close I cameCarrying this love inside like a burning flameTo see your face and touch your handNow all alone and without you I stand My journey will endWith a broken heart that will never mendWith pen and paper before you I'll sitAnd write of how life goes on without you in it The sun will riseI'll awake to the dawn with tears in my eyesAnd move through each day with a knowledge so trueYes life goes on, but it's no life without you. I wrote this poem several months ago just after I purchased my airline ticket to LA. Yes, I was excited to...
05. Michael and His Fans: An Inspiration of Hope
“If we start living peace instead of just dreaming it, then we will be living Michael's legacy!”   There is no scale from which one can measure the level of pain that is felt after losing someone you love. Whether it is through death, divorce, changes in geographical locations or the agony of separation that is felt between two lovers who have drifted apart, the emptiness that ensues is deep and everlasting. Grief does not come with a set of instructions. If it did, I imagine it would read somewhat like a recipe. Preparation and Cook Time: Will vary according to different elevations of grief. Ingredients: 3 quarts of...
05. The End of an Era: My Thoughts About Jermaine's Book
As I finished reading the last page of Jermaine Jackson’s book, You Are Not Alone Michael: Through a Brother’s Eyes, I wept, openly, for about ten minutes. In fact, I had already been crying as I read the last two chapters. Once I composed myself and went about my business, at various times throughout the day I would find myself in tears again. The next morning, I awoke at 3am; while lying there thinking, the tears started to flow again. I thought to myself, Why has this book affected me like this?Michael is four years older than I am, so, in a sense, I grew up with him. He captured my heart many years ago, so Jermaine’s memoir took me back down memory lane as he told stories about each period of Michael’s life: the beginning, the middle, and the end. I remember lying on the living room floor on my elbows in front of the television, watching in awe as they performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, singing “ABC” right along with them. I also remember how much I loved the...
06. Michael Jackson's Fans Need to Get A Life?
I came across this video the other day of Donny Deutsch, an American businessman, author and television personality, talking about Michael Jackson’s death.  Please watch the video before you read on.  Let me preface this by saying that Donny Deutsch is an amazing businessman. In addition to hosting his popular show on CNBC, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, he is also the Chairman of Deutsch Inc., a 2.5 billion dollar ad agency and he serves on the board of directors for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Having said that, he clearly does not understand the impact Michael Jackson has had on the world. He expresses his disbelief about the level of attention Michael received when he died, comparing his death to other people who passed away that have made an impact in the world. “In the last few days there are other Americans that have died,” Deutsch said. “Kenneth Russell…he flew 253 combat missions in three wars; Sylvia Levin…she registered...
06. My Forever King
I wasn’t going to write a New Year’s message for Michael and I know it was because I would have to finally say goodbye to him. I was very reluctant to do that because he has been a part of my life for forty years. He has been my familiar friend, my confidant, my inspiration and love but most importantly he has been the voice of my conscience. Even though he will remain all these things to me, letting go of his physical presence is probably the hardest thing for me to do.As I sat and watched him today dancing and singing, I felt closer to him than I ever had before. Yes there was sadness, but there was also the knowledge that he had touched my life; he walked next to me as I moved through the years, held my hand when I was in danger of falling and whispered his message to me while I slept. I knew he would always do so, because letting go does not mean forgetting. Letting go means setting someone free.Michael will always be in my heart, but I have let go of his hand so he can walk...
07. A Star is Born - Michael Jackson
“A star is a person who shines so brightly, who gives their gifts so fully, who loves so completely that everyone is drawn by the light of this star to find the way home.” – Chuck Spezzano, If It Hurts It Isn't LoveSometimes when I’m watching someone being interviewed on television I like to pretend that I am the one being interviewed. I like to reflect on how I would answer certain questions, because doing so tends to give me clarity about who I am and what is important to me.  The other day I watched a video of one of my favorite authors being interviewed. She was asked to tell people who may not know much about her what her basic philosophy is, what the foundation of her work is based on. She began to talk about what she saw as problems in the world and her ideas on how to solve them.  For me, I really believe that man’s inhumanity to man is destroying our world.  We’re a society that has been living with a closed heart for so long that...
07. Dear Friends
Dear FriendsI have never really understood the human race and our propensity toward acts of cruelty. I have never understood why for some, it is easier to hate than to love. It also seems easier to discriminate rather than to accept and to look at a different race as being beneath our own, rather than being equal to it.I have seen the indifference some have for the suffering of others and have witnessed the ‘I don’t care’ attitude many share for our dying planet. Many of us have experienced these things and even more have tried to make a difference by changing attitudes and bringing awareness. One such person was Michael. Beyond the music, the dance and the spectacle of the stage, he stands as a testament to the difference we can all make. Through the beautiful poems, letters and artwork that have been submitted for the Tribute Book, I can see and feel his inspiration and the love in your words. It is a very moving experience and one that I hope the world will share once...
08. The Power of Michael
As I sat on the plane waiting to leave for home after paying my respects to Michael Jackson on the 2nd anniversary of his passing, I had to hold back the tears. I was not ready to leave. Even though my body was on that plane, my heart was back at Forest Lawn. This trip was a life changing experience for me and I didn’t want to let go of that feeling. Last year I visited the places Michael used to live; Neverland, Hayvenhurst and Carolwood and had powerful experiences at each place, some good and some bad. The only house I cared to return to this year was Neverland. I remembered how I felt at peace there. I had been able to visualize the happier times. I imagined the children, the rides, the giving tree; all the things that brought him joy there. I couldn’t wait to experience that again. I remembered how the ride up there was so full of laughter, song and declarations of love for Michael. The scenery was absolutely stunning and I was looking forward to seeing it again,...
09. Michael Jackson's Ultimate Truth
“The truth reveals itself when you look with your heart.” – Linda HigginsThere are two things about life that I am certain. The first is that everyone in this world wants to feel like they are somebody worth loving. We all want to feel we are worth being treated with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect. To purposely treat someone otherwise is one of the most hurtful and destructive things that can be done to another human being. Yet that’s exactly what happened to Michael Jackson.  He was publicly shamed, criticized, ridiculed and condemned by writers, authors and journalists. He was the subject of entire television programs where the intent was to invite audience members and viewers to see him through the eyes of judgment and hatred; laughing, ridiculing and dismissing him as someone not worth loving. He was handcuffed and paraded around for the entire world to see when he was charged with allegations of child molestation, yet the person charged in his death was...
10 Things I've Learned from Michael Jackson
I was lying awake at 3:00 am this morning when all of these things that I've learned from Michael Jackson started to flood my mind. I'm not sure why, but I decided to write them down and share them with you. In reverse order:10. If you're going to do something, be the best at it! Practice, Perseverance, Dedication, Commitment. 9. Your talents are God-given gifts meant to be shared with the world. Honor them. 8. Follow your dreams and Keep the Faith, because it's just a matter of time. 7. All creativity is channeled, so don't write the music. Let the music write itself. (Or in my case, the story)6. If you care enough for the living, you'll make the world a better place. 5. It is possible for people to harmonize all around the world. See it's not about races, just places, faces.4. Before you judge someone, try hard to love them. Walk 2 moons in their moccasins. 3. Keep an open mind, because there really are people who will sell their soul just to get...
10. What's Wrong with Our World
I recently came across an intriguing documentary that is now showing in various parts of the United States called I AM. It was directed by Tom Shadyac, a Hollywood director whose previous work includes some very successful comedy blockbuster films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Nutty Professor and Bruce Almighty. In this film however, he sets out to explore the answers to two very important questions: What's wrong with our world and what can we do about it? I believe the answers to those questions can be found by looking at the way Michael Jackson was treated during his lifetime. He was one of the most successful and influential recording artists of all time, with estimates of 750 million records sold worldwide. 11. Fighting for the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait
Some people say that out of every tragedy comes something good. Indeed, I’ve been blessed to encounter some of the most unconditional love I’ve ever experienced through friendships I’ve made in this community. However, in the last few months I’ve had people with whom I was friendly become distant. Some who used to engage with me through social networks stopped doing so as much, others whom I’ve tried to befriend have flat out ignored me; comments on our articles have dropped, and some people seemed to not support the MJTP to the extent they used to. I didn’t give it too much thought until I discovered that there are people in the community who feel the MJTP betrayed Michael because one of our team members attended (by invitation) the album release party for Michael, some even going as far as writing about it on their blogs. Now it all makes so much sense, I thought to myself as the tears began to flow. That hurt me. Our intent is to be a...
12. Associating with Michael Jackson
"He is probably the most famous person in the planet, God help him!" Those words were spoken by Bob Geldof when giving Michael Jackson the award for Artist of a Generation at the Brit Awards in 1996. I’m one of those people who believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe there was a reason he was the most famous person on the planet and in my opinion it has something to do with putting love back into the world. Everybody remembers what they were doing when they learned Michael Jackson had passed away. We remember exactly where we were, who told us, and what our reactions were. It was a defining moment in history, one that caused the world to take a collective gasp. Although the majority of people mourned his loss and moved on with their lives, there are some people who were affected at a deeper level, one that was life changing. I am one of those people. I knew very early on there was a reason his death touched me so profoundly. I knew there was a reason I was drawn to...
13. What Will Be the Lasting Impression of Michael Jackson
When the trial of The People vs. Conrad Murray commences for the death of Michael Jackson, fans, friends and family can expect to encounter more pain as the defense, in their quest to prove Murray’s claim of innocence, will do anything in their power to portray Michael in a negative light. This will be heart-wrenching for all of us to watch…to say the least. We will have to listen to them suggest he killed himself, which is a ridiculous notion for anyone who knows him. His children were much too important to him, which Jermaine Jackson validated in a recent tweet: "Michael did not, would not, take his own life. His children were too important; indisputable." In addition, we’re also going to have our hearts broken while we are reminded of what Michael’s children had to endure the morning of his passing. The judge has ruled that cameras will be allowed in the courtroom, which has its pros and cons, but I sincerely hope it doesn’t affect them in a negative way. We won’t be...
14. The Mastery of Michael Jackson
It’s amazing to me that no matter how many times I watch Michael Jackson’s concerts or short films, he is still able to evoke the same emotional responses from me, even though I know what’s going to happen. When I watch them I’m taken to another place in time as I am thoroughly engrossed in being entertained. His "Live in Bucharest" concert is one of my absolute favorites. I still feel the excitement building in me while I’m waiting for him to bolt up from under the stage, all the while wishing I would have had the opportunity to be there with the crowd chanting, "Michael, Michael, Michael!" When he performs "Black or White," I’m right there with him jamming away on my imaginary guitar, pumping my head up and down to the beat, and he never fails to capture my heart when he sings "I Just Can’t Stop Loving You." An instant smile comes over my face and stays there until he moves me to tears with "She’s Out of My life." That happens every single time. It’s not just me...
15. Through The Eyes of Love
As we say goodbye to 2010, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me in my work to love, honor and celebrate Michael Jackson on behalf of the MJTP. Since he passed away, I’ve used my articles & videos to capture and convey the heart and soul of Michael in an effort to show the world who he really was: an exceptionally talented, loving, creative, sensitive man who wanted to bring joy and escapism to people through his music and make the world a better place. My work has focused almost entirely on motivating, educating and inspiring people to look at him through the eyes of love, but moving into 2011, my heart is telling me it’s time to make a slight but powerful shift from looking through the eyes of love at Michael to looking at love through Michael’s eyes. In his performance at the 1993 Super Bowl, he made a very poignant statement. As he began to touch the crowd with his outstanding colorful display of "Heal The World" he spoke these...
16. Remembering Michael Jackson
I created this video from some footage that was taken of me and a few other fans who were remembering Michael at Neverland Ranch on June 24, 2010. I included some of the photos we took while we were there and there is also some great footage of him in there. Hope it brings you a moment of joy today!Linda HigginsDirector of Community DevelopmentConnect with me on Twitter and Facebook  var addthis_config = {"data_track_clickback":true};If you would like to be notified when I post a new article to my blog, send an email to Linda@michaeljacksontributeportrait.com with the word "subscribe" in the subject line.
17. Reflections of Gratitude for Michael Jackson
In the United States, November is the month of Thanksgiving. For one day we all typically eat a bountiful harvest, spend the day with loved ones and give thanks for everything we’re grateful for in our lives. Thanksgiving has long been the time of year that puts me in an attitude of gratitude as I reflect back on reasons why I feel blessed. Thanksgiving fell on the 25th day of November this year, a day of the month which always causes fans to stop and reflect on our love for Michael since he passed away on the 25th day of June. As a result, this year my reflections of gratitude are directed squarely at Michael, and I feel compelled to share them with you. I hope in doing so I will encourage all of you to reflect upon your feelings of gratitude for him as well.Mariah Carey’s loving words put us in the right frame of mind to do that: "Let us remember him for his unparalleled contribution to the world of music, his generosity of spirit in his quest to heal the world and the joy he...
18. A Light of Truth About Michael Jackson
In every generation, there are a handful of people who come into this world equipped with the ability to change it for the better because of their heightened sense of awareness about the power of love. Those people understand love, not as a feeling, but as a state of being, a way of relating to the world. They have a certain light about them; a way of living that encompasses being kind, caring, compassionate and empathic. Through their ability to connect to love, they have the potential to heal the world. Michael Jackson was one of them. In an attempt to define love, I’ll defer to Marianne Williamson through her book called "A Return to Love." She says, "(Love) is our ultimate reality, and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life." Michael seemed to truly understand that concept. His connection to love was so strong that he had an enhanced ability to deeply touch other people with his light. When...
19. Restoring the Honor to Michael Jackson's Name
I have made no secret of the fact that I believe Michael Jackson’s character was attacked purposely in order to ruin his reputation. The people who set out to do that succeeded, and there were many. They succeeded in attaching a stigma to his name, to the extent that it became a disgrace to be associated with him. When it reached its peak, to say that you were a friend, fan or advocate of Michael Jackson brought snide remarks and laughter. Shame and humiliation are powerful emotions and people will go to great lengths to avoid them; hence the reason why many friends turned their backs on him during his 2005 trial, why many fans didn’t dare declare themselves to be so, and why the Gardner Street Elementary School disassociated themselves from him, by covering up his name on the auditorium that they renamed after him in 1989.Following his arrest in 2003, the Los Angeles Unified School District made the decision to cover Michael Jackson’s name up, because angry parents in the...
20. You Are Not Alone: How Michael Jackson Saved Lives
"History books will never capture the essence of your humble soul and the lives you literally saved." Jodi Gomes, Executive Producer of "JACK5ONS: A Family Dynasty" and close personal friend of MJThe quote above is an excerpt from a heartfelt letter Jodi wrote as a message to Michael for his 52nd birthday. She posted it for everyone to read when MJ fans, friends and family took Twitter by storm on his birthday, posting their own personal #MessagetoMJ.I found her letter to be very profound and timely, considering within the last couple of weeks I have had conversations with two different young women who claim exactly that; Michael Jackson saved their life.He was once asked how he would like to be remembered. Michael’s response was, "As a person who came and brought light to the world, some escapism; also as a voice for the voiceless children, because I love them. I’m living for the children. If it weren’t for the kids, I would throw in the towel."These two young women have...
21. What Does It Mean To Love Michael Jackson
One of the greatest attributes of the MJ Family is that we are a very close knit community dedicated to one purpose: loving Michael Jackson. Like any family we fight, we argue and we have differences of opinions. From what I have seen, most of our differences are based on our beliefs about one thing: what it means to love Michael Jackson.Every one of us has a pre-conceived notion about what it means to love him and those beliefs will dictate what we act on. The problem comes in thinking that if someone else doesn’t take those same actions, it means they don’t love him as much as we do.One of the biggest issues that we face about this subject right now is the new music that Sony will be releasing in November 2010.  According to an exclusive report by Rolling Stone, this album will feature a collection of ten "never before heard Jackson songs." It will be the first of ten projects over the next seven years. Some fans want to stage a boycott and not buy the...
22. A Journey of L.O.V.E. for Michael Jackson
I wish everyone could have experienced what it was like to visit Michael Jackson’s final resting place on the one year anniversary of his passing, but since that wasn‘t possible, I decided to blog about my experience to give you a small glimpse into what it was like. I have tried to capture and convey to you the emotion I felt in each place we visited while we were there. My trip was shared with three other friends. Two are team members on the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait, Valmai and Heather. The other is a dot member I have become good friends with named Kelley. We were all there for the same reason; to pay our respects to Michael Jackson. Other than the few times we got horribly lost, it was a great experience. We began our journey at Michael’s star on the Walk of Fame. Of all the stars on there, his was of course the one everyone flocked to. We met people from all over the world there; Japan, Germany, France. Everyone wanted to get their picture taken next to his star.The...
23. From Fans to Family; A World Brought Together by Michael Jackson
"If I had a single flower for every time I think of you, I could walk forever in my garden" Claudia GhandiCan you believe it has already been one year since the passing of Michael Jackson? I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that this has been one of the most emotionally difficult years we have ever been through. It has been a long, hard road for us as we have tried to come to terms with the loss of someone so special. We have experienced every emotion under the sun, from anger to disgust, from sadness to love.Brought together by an unspeakable tragedy, we have developed an unbreakable bond, because we relate to each other. When Michael passed away, we all experienced the same feelings of sadness and loss, so we understand each other. We can talk about our feelings with other fans, safe in the knowledge that we won’t be judged or ridiculed, as we so often are outside of our community. It has been a blessing to share that kind of a bond with so many other people.We...
24. Our Quest to Protect Michael Jackson's Legacy
Never did I imagine that with the death of Michael Jackson, my faith in humanity and my belief that people are basically good, would be shaken to the core. I’ve been a fan for decades, but since his passing I’ve been thrust into his world, and as a result, that’s exactly what happened. As the details of the injustices he encountered came to light, so did the awareness that a dark side of humanity exists; a reality he had to deal with every day of his life. I’ve been haunted by that awareness ever since. We’ve come to see the truth that he conveyed in some of his songs. There really are people who will "sell their soul just to get the story told" and there really are people who will do "anything for money." I figured the basic goodness in people would kick in and the sensationalism he so often spoke about would stop after he passed away. I thought people would take his children’s feelings into account and think twice about how their actions may affect them. I thought...
25. Carrying out Michael Jackson's Legacy of Love

26. Loving Michael Jackson
This is a video I created to show the significance of the loss of Michael Jackson for his fans, friends and family and to help the world understand why justice is so important to us. He wasn't a character you can read about in tabloids. He was a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and the worlds greatest entertainer.I created it using some of my favorite quotes and pictures of MJ. Hope you like it!It’s all for L.O.V.E. for Michael JacksonLinda HigginsDirector of Community Development If you can't view the video above, try this link. 27. A Gift of L.O.V.E.
Throughout Michael Jackson’s life and career as the world’s greatest entertainer, there was always one thing that remained consistent...the special relationship he had with his fans. He treated us with the utmost dignity, respect and love. He dedicated his life to us, publically declaring, "I am married to my fans." They say you never forget your first love and I believe for Michael, his fans were his first love.He knew that the love of his fans was the one thing that he could always count on. Our love nourished him in the good times and carried him through the bad times. Now we have an opportunity to do the same thing for his mother and children, through the Patchwork Blanket Project on The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait. Each quilt is made up of patches that contain the name and the love of a fan. That is what makes them so special; they contain the energy of love. These quilts, and the love they represent, will help nourish them in the good times and carry them through the...
28. Welcome to a New Blog
Welcome to my blog. As the Director of Community Development my responsibility is to empower dot members with the tools, motivation and inspiration to stay focused on Michael's mission, carry out his legacy and keep love in the forefront of our lives.     With the passing of our most beloved Icon, comes the responsibility of fans, friends, and family to ensure that his life has meaning beyond his passing.  We can do that by remembering that his message was always love.  I believe that Michael had a higher level of awareness than most, about the power and effects of love. Since he has worldwide appeal to millions of people, he has the potential to in turn raise the level of the world's awareness about the power of love.     In a video he made for his kids, he wished for them to learn the true meaning of success, which is Love.  About the tour he was planning to do in July called “This Is...
28.The Man Behind the Music
Michael Jackson’s influence in music will be felt for many generations to come. Millions of people were inspired by his musical genius and talent. However, his personal influence has yet to fully manifest itself, due in part to the fact that the man behind the music was largely misunderstood until his death. Prior to his death, the world rarely heard anything positive about him. For the vast majority of fans, information about who he was came from sensationalistic, tainted and unreliable sources such as news networks, magazines and tabloids. Most people have learned that Michael’s image and reputation was manipulated to influence the public’s opinion of him in a negative way by those who stood to gain from doing so. They created a stigma associated with Michael Jackson, thereby making it acceptable to love the music, but unacceptable to love the man. After June 25th, the truth came to light. Stories about his true character started to emerge. We became aware of things we had not...
29. We All Just Want Justice
After months of pain, anguish and disillusionment, it appears that charges may finally be brought up against Conrad Murray in the death of Michael Jackson. This has brought up a plethora of emotions for fans all around the world. We are justifiably angry, sad and hurt that the reckless actions of one man took the life of someone we love and we want justice to prevail. The heartbreaking pain of our loss has come to the surface all over again and everyone is feeling the sometimes overwhelming effects of it.We are all asking, why? Why is it taking so long for him to be arrested and charged? Why does he get to quietly turn himself in when Michael had to be handcuffed and paraded in front of the entire world? Most importantly, why didn’t he care for him like he was supposed to? What about the oath he took? Does he know the pain he has caused millions of people? Michael put his trust in him and it cost him his life! It was the ultimate betrayal. All of these questions, delays and...
30. What Michael Jackson Taught the World
As I sit here writing this on the seven month anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, fans, friends and family are still struggling to come to terms with why someone so special had to be taken from this earth so soon. In my opinion, there is only one way to make sense of such a tragedy and that is to look for the meaning behind it.Michael felt he had a higher purpose to his life, which was "to unite the world through love and music" as he stated in his autobiography Moonwalk. I agree with that, because there are many things about his life that points to him having a higher purpose.Endowed with phenomenal talent that manifested itself at an early age, he saw it as a gift from God and he felt he was meant to cultivate it and use it for the greater good. In fact, he viewed it as a sin not to do so.His dedication to his craft allowed him to create global success unmatched by anyone else; which also made him the most famous person in the world. Being known by virtually everyone...
31. Why We Love Michael Jackson
With the passing of Michael Jackson, fans all over the world have joined together in a common purpose; to do justice for a man who experienced so much injustice. For some reason, this tends to baffle those outside of the MJ Community. They mock our loyalty, our dedication, and sometimes even our sanity. I’ve seen several references of fans being labeled "as crazy as he was."They think we are crazy for loving a man who they criticized for his changing appearance. Maybe they don’t understand that the color of a man’s skin doesn’t make the man. We loved him when he had the appearance of a black man and we loved him when he had the appearance of a white man. His skin color was irrelevant to us. They don’t understand that we didn’t care how many plastic surgeries he did or didn’t have. That was a personal matter for him. They don’t understand we weren’t bothered by his eccentricities, and his love of animals and children wasn’t strange to us. They don’t...
32. Our Pledge to Michael Jackson
At a time when the energy of hope is usually in the air, a time when we are ready to release the past and look forward to the coming year in anticipation of greater things; for the fans, friends and family of Michael Jackson, 2009 is a year we are reluctant to let go of. Going into 2010 means we have to leave behind a life where he was in it. The coming of a New Year signals a painful reminder that we now have to learn to live life having only memories of him. This time of year is when we all start to think about resolutions, those things we can do to better our personal lives. Most often it is usually a goal to lose weight or make more money; something to improve ourselves or our situations. In other years, those goals would be very commendable, but this year somehow those things seem insignificant. What has now become important is to ensure Michael’s life has meaning beyond his passing. To move forward into the New Year with a goal to continue everything he was working to...
33. An Ambassador of Peace, Love and Goodwill
"When you don’t have a childhood, like myself and other child stars, you try to compensate for the loss later on and you try to catch up. But what I like to do is help other children who are less fortunate than I am. You know, kids who are terminally ill, kids who have diseases, poor children." – Michael JacksonKatherine Jackson once told a story about how she and Michael used to watch the commercials of the starving children in Africa, the ones with flies around their mouths, and how they would both sit there with tears streaming down their faces.People who are profoundly affected by those types of commercials have a strong sense of empathy. Empathy is the ability to sense what someone else is feeling. Not everyone has this ability, but those who do can feel the feelings of other people as if they were their own. Some people have so much empathy, they are so in tune with other's feelings, that it pains them to see someone else suffering. Michael Jackson was one...
34. Cry Out of Joy for Michael
There is no denying that everyone who loved Michael Jackson felt like we lost a piece of ourselves when he died. He was our connection to love, our inspiration and a source of joy in our lives. Now begins the struggle to maintain that connection with him even though he is gone. How do you allow yourself to be happy and joyful when someone you loved that deeply is no longer here? It’s hard to get past the pain of knowing we will never see him again during our lifetime. In my last article called "I Need You Michael Jackson," I talked about lost opportunities and how we must move through the pain by letting ourselves cry about them. That is an important step to follow because it’s part of the grieving process. Once you have let yourself do that, you will begin to move from feeling sorrow over lost opportunities to feeling joy over gained blessings.I was inspired to write this article after I heard a song by Akon. It was written by him as a tribute to Michael Jackson, his friend and...
35. I Need You Michael Jackson
There is no greater pain or struggle in life than trying to heal from the death of someone you love. When it comes to Michael Jackson, the depth of love that so many people have for him, including fans, friends and family, is remarkable. Now that the initial shock is over, the healing process begins. Some of you were lucky enough to experience one of his concerts. Others are blessed with being friends or family, but the vast majority of us loved him from afar. That doesn’t mean that our grief is any less significant than anyone else’s.You may hear comments from people like "How can you hurt over someone you never knew?" They don’t understand that he is someone you knew. You may not have ever met him, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t have a relationship with him. Relationships are formed when a person makes an emotional impact on you in some way. That is certainly the case for Michael and his fans.Regardless of whether you knew Michael personally or not, you will still feel...
36. An Icon in the Music Industry
Michael Jackson’s music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on his music. From the early years with the Jackson 5 singing "ABC" to "Thriller," the biggest selling album of all time...he was a force to be reckoned with. As he grew, he inspired me with songs that were meaningful and filled with positive messages, such as "Man in the Mirror," "We are the World" and "Heal the World."I remember how excited I was to watch his 30 year anniversary special where he reunited with his brothers to sing all the old favorites. The Motown 25 where he debuted the Moonwalk was simply incredible! When I watched him perform, I felt alive. Every song he sang was filled with heartfelt emotion. As a young boy, he once said: "I don't sing it if I don't mean it." He had a way of connecting personally with each and every fan.Michael has so many accomplishments that he has become an icon in the music industry. His contribution to music is something we should...
A Conversation with Joe Vogel and Frank Cascio
In the later part of 2011, Joe Vogel’s long awaited book Man in the Music was published. Expectation had been high in the preceding weeks, because we had been promised a book that was not only positive, but one that also exposed Michael Jackson’s creative process and showcased his extensive body of work, which had been often ignored and undervalued by some critic’s. The book quickly became a promise well-kept, and the few who did criticize its merit, were soon silenced by the roar of approval from those who embraced it as an important and definitive piece of literature. Right upon its heels, another young author published his book, one which delves into a very close friendship spanning 25 years. Frank Cascio’s, My Friend Michael, is as different to Man in the Music, as it is to any other book that has been written, because it comes from a personal perspective owned solely by Frank. Yet, despite suspicion and criticism from fans, overall,...
A Living Thing
Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become ~ C. S. Lewis On our weekly, Sunday visit to my grandmother’s house many, many years ago, she called my parents and me to the table for lunch. Laid out upon the table was her usual fare of cold-cuts and salad, along with scrumptious hot scones, butter, jam and whipped cream. Normally I would race to the table in anticipation of feasting on the hot treats, but that day I was immersed in a new book my mother had just bought me. It was full of colorful pictures and fantastical tales of knights, dragons and castles. I was too young at the time to understand most of the words in the book, but the illustrations had certainly captured my attention and imagination. Food paled in comparison to the feast I held in my hands.Reluctantly, I folded the page...
Angels4Joshua - A Very Special Update
June 29, 2012The following update comes from Vera and family. A different kind of update indeed, we thought this happy and exciting story should have its own special page. Without further ado…An "update" of a different kind... this is something I had wanted to share with you guys and girls for a long, long time (at least the first part) but couldn't... the story was still unfinished... but it all came to a closure in May of this year, a happy ending to Joshua's dream... Here it is... **~~ANGELS4JOSHUA~~** Part oneTHE MYSTERY CALLERIt was in July 2010 that he was in Germany with his family to do promotion for the latest movie. Joshua's face lit up when  he heard he  was over here as Josh really dug him for quite a long time. Anyway, when I heard he was a guest on the SAT 1 morning show the following day I wrote to them, asking if they'd be kind enough to get Mr. Mystery's autograph for Josh. They replied apologizing for seeing it...

Finding Michael
It happened almost the minute I walked off the plane. There was a feeling of familiarity, and of stepping back in time to 2010.I greeted friends that I had met last year, and met others for the first time. It was wonderful, yet strange to see the faces of those I had only communicated with via the internet and by telephone.Yes, this was familiar ground to me. Last year, I had left behind a piece of my heart and soul, and I expected to feel the same emotions I had at that time, but I didn’t. I expected to find Michael where I had felt his presence last year, but I didn’t. Instead, I sensed a difference in the air; a difference in me. Perhaps it was because the grief and pain wasn’t quite so raw and new, not so all-consuming. There was silent resignation within me that he had physically departed, and no more would we see the life-force shine from eyes that had on lit up our world. Thanks to a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, on December 23, 2010, Tribute Portrait Executive Producer Jerry Biederman and his daughter delivered a stunning floral wreath to Michael at Forest Lawn.Jerry shared this with us:"When I was there putting it up, I got special permission to put them near the entrance to Holly Terrace. All of the other flowers, photos, and gifts were on the lower deck away from the front doors. The flowers weighed a ton and were absolutely beautiful. There were a good number of fans there (as there always are) and they gathered around the flowers and said how special and beautiful they were. Lots of thank yous!"These flowers are from all of us who make up the Tribute Portrait, and come together as one, a family, another part of Michael in his Tribute Portrait.Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays Michael, and to everyone here at the MJTP. We love you, Michael!Special thanks to the anonymous donor for the flowers!Find us on...

GARY TALES
GARY TALES         I was a wee bit dubious about going to Gary, Indiana.  Not because it is rated as the tenth most dangerous city in America, but because my April visit there was so wonderful that I couldn’t imagine this August visit topping it.  It did, though.Last April my daughter Christy and I traveled from Maryland to Gary on Easter weekend.  We sought to rejoice in the hope brought about by the concept of resurrection, and also to find some sense of closure after so many months of shock and grief.  We met delightfully hospitable folks there (including a Jackson cousin) as well as fellow “Michael-ers” from all over the world, literally.  That, however, is a story for another time.  Right now, if I may, I’d like to take you on a journey…not of mourning, but of celebration!  Welcome to Michael Jackson’s Birthday Party Weekend at 2300 Jackson Street! So many images flash through my mind as I...

Interview with Gregory Smith, founder of the Believe Foundation
Not many people in the fan community know who Gregory Smith is. For myself, I was not aware of him until a few weeks ago when by accident I happened upon his facebook page, Believe Foundation: http://www.facebook.com/believefoundationusa  There, I saw a picture of him taken with Michael Bearden which piqued my interest and curiosity. Having interviewed Michael in the past, and finding in him a true sense of honesty and integrity, I knew that anything he was involved in would be something I would have no question in supporting. As I read a description of the Believe Foundation and what it stood for, I knew I had stumbled upon something that to me was a direct extension of Michael Jackson’s humanitarian legacy and empathy for children. I contacted Michael Bearden immediately asking what, if anything, I could do to help; how could I support this foundation. In turn, Michael put me in contact with Gregory Smith, a man with vision, dedication and heart, and the founder...
Jacksons Victory Tour '84
When I came across this video, uploaded by VIP dot member Mengesa "Mystro" Francis, it brought a huge smile to my face as I recalled so many wonderful memories. It is an excerpt from the Jacksons Victory Tour in 1984.  Quoting from the description under the video, "The tour featured 55 concerts, to an audience of approximately 2 million. The tour reportedly grossed approximately $75 million and set a new record for the then-largest grossing tour. The 1984 Victory Tour showcased Michael's single decorated glove, black sequined jacket and moonwalk, which captivated audiences around the world early in 1983, just about a year prior." Michael donated all of his proceeds from this tour to charity.  Enjoy this awesome video! JACKSONS VICTORY TOUR 84' (HD) from Michael Jacksonology: Tribute on Vimeo.
